Many of us are already or are thinking of writing down our new year resolutions for 2016.
But before you dive head-on into writing your resolutions for 2016, I would like to suggest that you take a couple of minutes to think back and ask yourself this question:
-
What have I learnt in 2015 that I would like to bring with me into 2016?
You see, many of us come up with brand new lofty resolutions for the new year, only to find that we have abandoned most of them by the middle of the new year. The key to keeping ourselves motivated is to look back and recall all the lessons that we have learnt and focus on those things that have taught us valuable lessons and brought us happiness, joy and gratitude.
“Many of us come up with brand new lofty resolutions for the new year, only to find that we have abandoned most of them by the middle of the new year”
Because it is in those events and in those moments that really hold the most valuable lessons in our life’s journey.
Yes I know this sounds a little philosophical, however what good does it do if you were to pen down new resolutions and abandoning them a couple months into the new year?
There are lots of advice out there telling you how to keep your new year resolutions.
However if you really want to continue to improve and reach new heights for the new year, it is vital that you identify successes and ask yourself what led to those successes. And once you have understood the actions you took that led to those successes, then you should carry those lessons and actions into the new year and continue to do more of those.
Success doesn’t come by focusing on your weakness. Success comes when you focus on your strengths.
Happy New Year everyone!
